Sony Music Flies Back To Nigeria with D’Banj

From all indications, Sony Music is finally making its way back to Nigeria.

This info has just been made public by D’banj via his Instagram page.

In Banga Lee’s own words, “Welcome to Nigeria… Welcome to Sony Nigeria… DB Records stunting through… finally they are coming back…” He also goes on to say “A good friend and business man berths SONY in Nigeria after a long hiatus… if y’all don’t know Mr Watson now, I’m sure you will soon… #SonyNigeria #DBRecords”.

For those who know about the history of Nigerian music, you’d recall that some of the major international record labels were in Nigeria till sometime around the early 90′s.

The return of Sony Music shows how much Nigerian music has progressed in recent years.

Hopefully this will take our music to even greater heights across the globe and usher in more investment in our entertainment industry from the Western World

The Senate in Abuja on Thursday passed a bill that will legally protect persons with disability from discrimination. Sponsored by Sen. Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman (PDP-Kogi), the bill seeks to integrate such persons into the society and establish a commission for persons with disability. The bill, titled ‘Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Bill, 2014′, prescribes a fine of N1m for corporate bodies and N100,000 or six months imprisonment or both for an individual who contravenes the law. Sen. Adamu Gumba (PDP-Bauchi) presented the report of the Senate Joint Committee on Sports, Social Development and Women Affairs on the bill. Child-bride, Wasila Umar, accused of killing her husband and three of his friends while injuring many others after she served them poisoned food, in Kano, says she regrets her action. “Mine was a classical example of youthful exuberance; it dawned on me shortly after that it was a joke taken too far to resolve a forced marriage question”, Wasila, 14, said.
